Review: Under The Banner of Heaven
Under The Banner of Heaven was my third Jon Krakauer book, after Into Thin Air and Into The Wild.
Basically, the book is a juxtaposition of two stories, namely the origin and evolution of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) and the modern day double-murder of Brenda Lafferty and her baby daughter Erica by brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who claimed to do so under God's name.
I'm somewhat reluctant to write a review of this book since it's about Mormonism and religions of any kind can be a really touchy subject to talk about. However, I do enjoy reading this book because it talked about a religion which I previously never heard of and about the controversy from the double murder committed by the Lafferty brothers.
This book is very different from Into Thin Air and Into The Wild, but it's still an interesting read, albeit its serious subject matter.
