Mini library in the office

Did I ever mention that a colleague of mine started a mini library project in our office? No? Well, she did and so far there's quite a selection available now, contributions from everyone who enjoys reading.

A new used book shop

There's a new used book store at the second level of Amcorp Mall.

How I spent my Labour Day

'Nuff said!

Used bookstore closed

I was visiting Amcorp Mall during the weekend after CNY. Heading towards my favourite bookstore, I noticed Bookstreams, a used bookstore next to Kenny Rogers Roasters, was closed. The banner that used to hang outside the store was missing and renovations have already started. All the books were gone.

A Lucky Find

I was visiting the Popular Warehouse Sales at Summit Subang USJ on Sunday, leisurely browsing through the collection of books on sale. While at the English book section, I found this book under the 80%-90% discount tables.

Book Galore 2012

It's another book sale to be held at MIECC starting today! Various English and Chinese books will be sold at warehouse prices here. Surprisingly, BookXcess will also be there, selling books at RM 5 or less & buy 4 get 1 free!!

So tempted to visit the sale. :p

"Borders outraged by victimisation of its staff"

Photo from Free Malaysia Today

A statement was released by Borders on 19 June 2012 after its store manager Nik Raina Nik Abdul Aziz was,

"...charged by Jabatan Agama Wilayah Persekutuan (JAWI) in the Kuala Lumpur Syariah Court for distributing a book by Canadian author Irshad Manji deemed to be against the Islamic Law (Hukum Syarak) and banned in Malaysia".

Which Books Should You Read This Summer?

It's a good time to be a bibliophile!!

Be ready to empty your bank accounts, book lovers!!

Beginning this week, there are several book sales going on in Klang Valley.

The question is...

Are there books that even book lovers don't read? Books that some would say, "There's no way in #3LL that book(s) gonna end up on my shelf!!" ?

I'm not into romance/chic lit books. I doubt any guy is. Once a friend asked me to buy the Twilight series for her from an MPH book sale near my place. I said, "No problem". But when I was there picking up Stephenie Meyer's bestsellers, I said to myself, "Wait a minute. I'm standing here, alone, looking though romance novels. I sure hope no one sees me now!!"

Haha... it was a rather strange moment for me! :P

Is there any book(s) that you don't read?

The Art of Racing in the Rain

Just started reading this book today, bought it from the previous Bookfest@Malaysia last year. It about a pet dog called Enzo and his master, with Enzo as the narrator.

I can't remember when and where I first heard about this book, but I do remember at the time I already have books about pets such as Marley and Me, Dewey, My Life with George and A Lion called Christian (Well, Christian was sort of a pet back then, when there was no law against owning exotic animals as pets). I was thinking that it would be interesting to see things from the pets' perspective.

Therefore, I decided to buy it during the Bookfest, which I'm kind of regretted now as BookXcess is currently selling it at RM 17.90. Darn...

Anyway, I've started on the first few pages. I got a feeling I'll enjoy this book a lot!

To Kill a Mockingbird

It's the 50th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird.

I've always wanted to read this book for quite some time, but I still have so many books yet to read and was somewhat reluctant to buy one.

The other day I found the book was included in a list by BookXcess, selling for only RM 17.90. So I thought I would go there are buy one. Unfortunately, the book was sold out!

I really hoped that the book will be available in BookXcess soon. If not, I might just buy it from the regular bookstore at a higher price.
