Gigi [1999 - 25/5/2011] |
It was quite sudden and unexpected, despite having a heart problem for the pass few days, with symptoms of shortness of breaths, lack of energy and appetite.
The shortness of breaths started on 22 May and seemed to gotten worse on the next day along with the lack of energy. We took her to the vet and the doctor said that it was either the heart or the lungs that was the cause. Gigi was given two injections and some medicine, and she was to be monitored for a few days to see if she would need an x-ray.
While the breathing has eased a bit, Gigi still lacked the energy and appetite. On the fateful day of 25 May, my mom was thinking of bringing the dog to the vet as there was no improvement on Gigi's health. However, it was too late....
I was the only one with her when Gigi passed away. I liked to believe that she died peacefully despite the discomfort of her illness. At the very least, she passed away in her home with a loved one by her side.
I brought her to the vet in Puchong to properly handle Gigi's remain. That was the last time Gigi took a ride in my car. That was the last time I pet her. That was the last time I saw her.
We kept the collar that Gigi had ever since she joined our family. It's now hanging on the wall of our living room. As I went through some of her belongings, I found some of her hair on her comb. I kept the hair, as it's the only thing left of her we can keep as a remembrance.
We'll always remember Gigi. She has been a great pet and a family member to us. I'll always remember her look when she pants with her long tongue hanging out, as if she was smiling; when she always wait by the door after she heard the sound of my car, knowing that I just reached home from work; when she will rub her head and face on my legs as soon as I sit down to take off my shoes; when I'm having breakfast, she would bark at me, asking (more like demanding) for some meat, etc. There are so much about Gigi to remember about.
It'll take some time for us to get used to Gigi's absence. Everyone will be in a low mood whenever we think of her. But soon enough, we'll do nothing but laugh and smile when we talk about our happy memories of our beloved pet.
If you can hear me, Gigi, we love you and miss you a lot. You'll always be alive in our hearts and minds.
