My latest favorite! I’m no book critic and I can’t exactly describe how well this book was written, but I can tell you that I enjoyed reading “Angela’s Ashes”.
This book is an autobiography of Frank McCourt during his childhood in Limerick, Ireland. Without giving away the story, which I would strongly recommend everyone to read, the life of the author and his family in Limerick was really hard, battling against poverty, constant hunger, humiliation and deaths.
If we could imagine ourselves living in Frank McCourt’s life in Limerick while reading this book, one would easily realize that no matter how hard we think our own childhoods were, they’re nothing compared to how he had lived his.
While the book detailed the hardship the author went through, I was pleasantly entertained by the antics that he and his siblings did and the weird and illogical thoughts and ideas the author had. I could relate to him in this aspect as I remember having silly thoughts as well when I was young.
Go buy this book and read it!! I’ve finished it and went straight to the second book “’Tis” and will continue with the last book “Teacher Man”.
