In less than two weeks, I finished reading two fantastic books written by renowned author Jack London. Despite being classic books, which might put some people off at first, the way it was written still managed to pull modern readers into the lives of the main characters of the books.
The Call of the Wild and White Fang are the opposite sides of the same coin. The first book is about how the life of a dog named Buck changed from his comfortable life in the Southland to a harsh life in the Northland (Alaska) and thrived by embracing his wild-side. The second book is about how the life of a wolf named White Fang changed from being a wild animal in Alaska to a comfortable life in the south.
Being a dog owner, reading these books was quite a mental and emotional journey for me. Reading how Buck and White Fang were mistreated in the stories made me feel sorry for them, and took comfort at how Buck thrived in the wild and how White Fang lived a good life in the end.
I would love to recommend both books to readers, especially those who love wildlife, dogs or wolves.
