Lol... It was expected. As I reminded myself millions of times before, I still have too many books unread and need to tone down my purchases a bit. But I didn't realise I bought 13 books. I was expecting a single-digit.
It was on 13 December that I made by first visit, a week after the event started. The first thing I saw when I arrived at the MIECC was not the books, but the cars.
This was the Lamborghini used during the opening ceremony of the book sale. I've seen the opening on YouTube, too bad they didn't use an actual costume of the Wolf. Instead they had a guy in a scrambler helmet and racing suit. At lease they did have a girl in a Red Riding Hood costume for the Red Readerhood movement.
The hall wasn't packed with people. It was the morning of a weekday, after all. I was going to take my own sweet time walking around taking photos and browsing the tonnes of books on sale.
Some of the things I particularly liked about the sale were the funny banners and posters around the venue.
I also liked what they did with their price tags.
I visited the sale three times, the last was on the very last day. The books I bought were:
I've also bought some books for my nieces, who may or may not read them.
Aside from books, I've bought some of the merchandises too.
And of course not to be forgotten, the free bookmarks.
Aside from buying for myself, I've also donated two books under the Red Readerhood program. I'd like to think that I could help, even in a very small way, the younger generation to develop a good reading habit and not burying themselves in smartphones and iPads.
I've also managed to meet up a friend on the second visit. We've met only once last year at BBWB. While she said that she won't be buying much since she has her Amazon Kindle, I doubt that she'll completely get over reading a real book. I'm sure I'll be seeing her again next year.
BBWB sure made a lot of efforts this time to attract people. Can't wait to see what they will do next year.
