"‘Tis" continues after author Frank McCourt arrived in America with hopes of living the American dream. Various hardships and awkwardness ensued due to his unfamiliarity with the country and contradictions with his ideals and beliefs. His naïve, insecurity and lack of self-confidence led to many troubles and awkward moments.
"Teacher Man" focused on his life as a teacher in various schools and colleges. Like his second book, McCourt was faced people from different countries, such as Ireland, Italy, Puerto Rico, Africans. This time, these were hormone-raged teenagers instead of adults. His lack of confidence and many self-doubt made him wonder if he should be teaching at all, but soon he developed his skills and experiences that earned him the love and respects from his colleagues and students.
I’m glad I bought all three of McCourt’s books. It reached full circle from his first book depicting his childhood to his third book about his years as a teacher, ending with someone encouraged him to write a book, which McCourt had had in his mind for quite some time now since his second book when he just started his career as a teacher.
I love these books, highly recommended. And these books can be found at BookXcess at amazingly low prices. I wonder if the three books will be available during the Big Bad Wolf book sale this October? I’ll definitely ask my friends to buy all three.
