Review: "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle"

Took me longer than I thought to finish this book. Whenever I start reading thick books (500+ pages), I’d imagine myself yawning barely halfway through. Fortunately it never happened (so far, at least) and I really enjoyed The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.

As the title expressed, this book is a story of Edgar Sawtelle, a boy born without a voice, in a family that breed and train dogs which were named Sawtelle dogs. But the book doesn’t just begin with the boy and his family, the prologue started with an unknown man purchasing a potent poison in South Korea and this led the readers knowing that something bad will happen along the story.

There’s a bitter sweet ending to this book (more bitter than sweet to me) which many readers may not agree with. However, I still think the book is easily one of the best books I’ve read so far and there’s no wonder Oprah added it into her book club.

A five-star book!!
